TENNIS ace Hannah Smith has set her sights on reaching Junior Wimbledon this summer and her talent on court was rewarded as she won the Junior Ladies title.
The 15-year-old from Silchester had an excellent 2018, representing Great Britain against the USA and she reached eight European finals in both singles and doubles, winning three doubles titles and one singles title across two age groups - under-14 and under-16.
The teenager also attained her first ITF (International Tennis Federation) points reaching the quarter-finals in two prestigious ITF Junior under-18 event at the age of 14.
She said: “It was a real surprise when you look at the competitors I was up against.
“The highlight for me last year was for sure the European singles and doubles wins and also playing for Great Britain against USA.
“My aim this summer is to make Junior Wimbledon.”
Hannah said she has been inspired by being a ball girl for the likes of Johanna Konta at the recent Fed Cup.
Smith said: “ It was just so great just be on the same court as those girls.”
The young tennis ace will start her quest to be ranked high enough to go to Junior Wimbledon with an S ITF tournament in Malta in the next few weeks.
Table tennis star Anaya Patel was second in this category as she finished 2018 ranked number two for under-15 girls and in the top 12 for under-18s.
WAKO British champion kick boxer Maggie Brown was third.
There was also a special achievement award for triathle rising star Alexis Hornsby.
At the age of nine she became an European under-11 triathle bronze medallist.
