LUKE Stoneman made a superb track debut in his first ever weekend of action at the British Motorcycle Racing Club Rookie 600 Championships with two podium finishes.
The 25-year-old from Basingstoke has previously raced in Motocross and had only been on the track once before which was to get his racing license three weeks earlier.
So it was a real baptism of fire, but he came through it with flying colours finishing fourth and fifth on day one and then second on third on second day of racing
He is now hoping he can find sponsors to maintain his great start to the season, which will continue at Oulton Park on the last weekend of this month.
The championship has nine meetings in total and visits the ironic circuits of Cadwell Park, Donington, Brands Hatch and Snetterton and big crowds attend every circuit.
Stoneman said: "This is not just a hobby I want to make progress and hopefully this could be the start of a new career for me.
With this in mind I have been in the gym five times a week and I have also been making sure the bike is ready for racing by spending the hours working on it."
"I have been watching on board footage studying the circuits and getting to know the racing lines . It’s a second job for me."
