THE Basingstoke Bison's season was ended as they lost 5-3 on the night and 8-5 on aggregate at the Peterborough Phantoms in the play-off semi-finals.
Leading by a goal from the first leg, the Phantoms doubled their advantage in the tie with the opening goal at 2:28, as Ales Padelek and James Ferrara combined for Will Weldon to score.
Three minutes later, the Bison opened their account as George Norcliffe netted man of the match Russ Cowley's rebound.
However, Peterborough restored their lead on the night, as Scott Robson netted after a goal mouth scramble.
The Phantoms then put themselves in the driving seat when Padelek turned provider for Ferrara.
The Herd looked to have got themselves back into the contest, as Richard Bordowski converted a pass from Adam Harding at 37:25.
However, a minute later, the home side netted their fourth of the night as James White fired into the top corner to make it 4-2 on the night and 7-4 overall at the second buzzer.
With four minutes left, the Herd pulled a goal back as Bordowski netted his second of the night.
The Bison went looking for more goals and in the final minute pulled their netminder, but the move back fired as Petr Stepanek hit the empty net.
The victory means the Phantoms will play Bracknell next weekend to decide the South One play-off champions.
