GREG Donaldson had a great game with bat and ball as Basingstoke and North Hants seconds beat visiting South Wilts II by three wickets.
Donaldson took three wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 167 and then hit an unbeaten 48 to steer his side home.
Having won the toss, Basingstoke captain Chris Chandler decided to bowl and led by example as reduced South Wilts to 50-4 with a spell of 4-18.
Basingstoke-based cricketer Ryan Murray was then the fifth man out with only seven more added to the score, caught by Donaldson off the bowling of Keith Harsham.
At this point, the visitors dug in and thanks to Rob Pittman (44) and Stephen Booth (61) they took the score into three figures, with a sixth wicket stand worth 70.
The partnership was eventually broken by Joe Oates (2-9 from five overs) as he had Pittman trapped leg before and he also bowled Booth.
Meanwhile at the end Davidson dispended with tail, as he finished with 3-36 as South Wilts were all out for 167.
The last two being caught behind by Josh May to take his tally to three for the game.
The home side’s reply got off to a solid start thanks to May (13) and Scott Dyer (20).
Matt Deadman then hit 21 batting at number four, but his departure saw a mini collapse as the Bountymen suddenly found themselves 74-6.
It was left to Joe Oates (38) and Donaldson to get them back on track with a seventh wicket stand worth 90.
It was left to Donaldson and Harsham to finish the job with seven overs left.
Donaldson’s 48 coming from 50 balls and included three fours and two sixes.
Next weekend, Basingstoke are away to Fair Oak.
