HOOK and Newnham Basics cruised into the Hampshire semi-finals of the National Village Cup, thanks to a 10 wicket victory over visiting Paultons.
The home side made five changes to the side which won on Saturday and the young guns did not disappoint with one of them Will Gardner helping himself to 3-20 from eight overs.
Anik Divecha was the other wicket taker with 2-15 from his spell of the same length.
Scott Dawes top scored for the visitors with 57, before he was run out by Hook skipper Josh Buckingham.
In the end Paultons made 145-6 from their 40 overs, which the home side knocked off in 22 overs, without losing a wicket
This was thanks to Harry Warner 82 (67 balls 11 fours two sixes) and Richard Willcock 48 (63 balls five fours).
Next for Hook in this competition is a trip to Sarisbury on May 26 and this Saturday they travel there as well, for a top of the table Southern League Division One, with leaders Hook looking to make it three wins out of three.
