HOOK and Newnham Basics made it three wins from three as they remained top of Division One.
Jack Murrell took five wickets in the early season top-of-the-table clash away to Sarisbury Athletic as Hook were able to maintain their perfect start to the campaign.
The visitors were at the crease first and it looked like it could be a tough afternoon for the Basics when they lost their opening batsman LBW for just three runs.
After building a steady score, it was not until the middle of the order and the introduction of captain Josh Buckingham (40) when the Hook side started to rack up the runs.
Buckingham managed to hit five fours and two sixes before being dismissed by Jason Allmark.
Rhodes Franklin (20) and Martyn James (26) increased the visitors score further, but it was not until the tail end of Hook’s batting order that the runs piled on with Shane Brewer hitting nine four on his way to 44 runs before being caught by Sam Hill to give the visitors a score of 236 all out.
It was Hook’s bowlers who really shone with Murrell take five wickets, claiming two ducks in the process.
James was also among the wickets, claiming two, with Aniket Divecha taking three to skittle the home side for 96.
Hook and Newnham Basics will look to continue their perfect start to the season this weekend when they host bottom side New Milton.
