THE Bountymen’s seconds took local bragging rights in the Southern Premier Cricket League Division two with victory over Hartley Wintney.
Hartley Wintney batted first and opener Will Kerr put on a strong start, hitting seven fours on his way to 46 before he was caught by Josh May.
Hugo Hammond was the second highest scorer for the visitors to May’s Bounty, clocking up 38 runs before he was caught by Keith Harris from Chris Chandler’s delivery.
Harris and Chandler claimed three wickets each on their way to bowling Hartley Wintney out for 145.
With the Bountymen’s seconds now into bat, Hartley Wintney could be forgiven for feeling optimistic after Scott Dyer was bowled for a duck by Will Ross.
However, the pairing of Steve Bucksey (50 not out) and Matthew Deadman (61) saw the hosts make easy work of chasing down the visitors’ total with six wickets in hand.
Basingstoke and North Hants seconds climb up to fourth in the Southern Premier Cricket League Division 1 table, with Hartley Wintney sitting just one place above the drop zone.
Hartley Wintney will travel to Liphook and Ripsley on Saturday.
Meanwhile Basingstoke and North Hants seconds visit bottom of the table Waterlooville.
