HOLDERS Hook and Newnham Basics fell at the first hurdle of their defence of the Southern League T20 Cup as they were beaten at Premier Division side Burridge.
The visiting Division One outfit were put into bat and in a very rare failure with the bat were bowled out for 79.
Opener Kieran Thomson and Matt Buckingham both top scored with 20.
The home side lost opener Azimunnoor Chowdhury with 15 scored as Jack Murrell snapped up a catch off the bowling of Rhodes Franklin.
Burridge then had a little wobble just after reaching 50 as Liam Shore and Will Gardner snapped up a wicket each, but from their Chris Blake with an unbeaten 33 steered them home, with eight overs to spare.
Hook will now enter the Plate completion, along with South Wilts who they beat in last season's final.
