HOOK and Newnham Basics’ hopes of a sixth straight league win were dashed, as their game at Rowledge was abandoned.
The weather forced the match to be reduced to 37 overs a-side, but then after 21 overs into the home innings, the rain returned ending the game.
At this point, the match was very much in the balance as Rowledge were on 64-3, with Chris Yates 29 not out and Chris Broad 14 unbeaten.
This was after they recovered from 25-3 after Jack Murrell took 3-11 from eight overs.
He bowled Jonte Sebborn (0) and Fraser Wilson (5) and had David Lloyd (6) caught by wicketkeeper Josh Buckingham.
The Southern League Division One leaders will hope for better weather this coming Saturday, when they face a visit from Ventnor.
