BASINGSTOKE and North Hants seconds gave Southern League Division Two leaders Totton and Eling, a fright before losing by three wickets.
This was despite the face the visiting Bountymen were bowled out for just 97.
Opener Greg Donaldson opened the innings in an explosive manner with 13 in 10 balls hitting three fours.
However, his departure signaled a top order collapse as Basingstoke were soon 22-4.
Joshua Coombs (29) and Chris Froud (7) got the score past 50, but they then slumped to 67-9.
Matt Deadman with a defiant unbeaten 30 and last man Keith Harris (5) so nearly got the home side into three figures.
The visitors reply found it really tough going against the home side’s experience seam and spin attack of Chris Chandler (2-10) and Keith Harris (4-32) reduced them to 44-6.
Chandler then took a catch to give Greg Donaldson a wicket as it became 47-7.
However, after this Oliver Thomas (24) and Brighton Mugochi (28) steered their home with an unbeaten eighth wicket stand worth just shy of 50.
This Saturday, the second team are at home to Liphhook and Ripsley.
