BASINGSTOKE and North Hants seconds lost by 14-runs at home to Liphook and Ripsley.
The visitors decided to bat and Harry Munt’s fine 69 held the innings together with good support by Jonathan Pryce (39), the pair adding 69-runs for the fifth wicket.
Liphook in the end saw out their 50 overs being all out on the last ball for 210.
Spinner Matt Thankachan led the way on the bowling front with 4-31 and fellow spinner Keith Harris returned 2-28.
After losing opener Steve Bucksey (7) with 34 on the board, Josh Coombs (21) and Callum Coombs (10) took the score to 50.
However, with 17 runs added they lost three wickets, but then Scott Dyer (67) and Josh Weir (27) put on 72 for the fifth wicket.
Thankachan and Dyer got the score to 176, but from there Liphook’s Sean Burton took over with 4-34, as Basingstoke were bowled out for 196 on the second ball of the final over.
This Saturday, Basingstoke seconds are in action away at South Wilts second string, with both sides looking to move away from the relegation zone.
