FREE junior memberships is up for grabs at Sherfield Oaks Golf Club on Sunday, July 14.
The admission-free Family Fun Day which runs from 11am to 3pm is open to the general public and includes #junior100, a putting competition for under-18s with at least five free junior memberships up for grabs at both golf clubs.
On the day, every child who has a go at #junior100 will receive free coaching and a golfing goodie bag. Additional games are being laid on for all ages to enjoy – with more prizes to go for – and refreshments including a barbecue will be available throughout the day.
Crown Golf, the UK’s largest golf operator is running #junior100, and is being staged simultaneously at each of its 18 venues in the south of England Crown Golf’s regional manager and head of marketing Tim Hudson said: “This summer we are giving away at least 100 memberships to young people across the group. We think it’s a great way to support junior golf and grow the game.
“On Sunday July 14th there will be memberships to win in a number of different age categories, so children of all ages will be competing on a level playing field.
“Each participant aged under 18 will get three golf balls on the putting green and will be aiming for a large bullseye target, scoring points as they go.
“But it’s not just for kids who already play golf – those who are new to the game are very welcome. Anyone can have a go, anyone can win it, which is why we have a category for non-golfers as well!”
This is just the beginning of Crown Golf’s summer 2019 drive to get more youngsters into golf, however, as the Crown Golf clubs are all running Summer Golf Camps throughout the school holidays.
These are fun days which cater for all abilities and include games, skills development and coaching by PGA professional golf coaches.
“A Summer Golf Camp is a great way to entertain your kids safely during the holidays – and they will make new friends as well as learning or improving their golf!” Hudson added.
After School and Weekend Clubs will also be laid on when term time restarts, and free taster sessions for all ages are ongoing at each club. These are fun sessions in a relaxed atmosphere for children who have never played before.
“This summer we will be encouraging all parents to try golf too” said Hudson.” For the grown-ups we are providing free taster sessions, starting in the clubhouse with a coffee, which offer the chance to get to know your fellow beginner-golfers.”
