BASINGSTOKE and North Hants second suffered defeat at relegation rivals South Wilts by 65 runs.
The home side won the toss and elected to bat and thanks to Charis Chandler and Greg Donaldson (2-42) the Bountymen started the better reducing their host to 16-3.
Chandler then added the scalps of Rob Pittman and Owain Phillips on his way to 4-32 and South Wilts were in the mire at 37-5.
Tom Pearce (51) and Stephen Booth (51) dug them out of this hole taking the score to 105.
However, Pearce found another willing partner in Sam Pittman (36) and they added 59 for the eight wicket as South Wilts finished on 208-9.
The home side’s James Wade certainly did the damage to Basingstoke’s top order taking four wickets on his way to 5-37 which left the Bountymen reeling at 42-5.
Donaldson (22) and top scorer Chandler (44) did well for the tail, but in the end the Basingstoke were all out for 142
The seconds are at home on Saturday, when they face Fair Oak.
