BASINGSTOKE and North Hants beat Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup holders Hook and Newnham Basics A to set up a mouth watering final encounter with Hartley Wintney.
In a a repeat of last year’s final the Bountymen gained revenge with a 77-run victory last Thursday at May’s Bounty.
Basingstoke batted first in the T20 contest, Brad Porteous top scored with 40 assisted by former Hook man Jordan Hobday (38) and captain David Griffiths (32).
Hook's chief wicket takers were former Bountyman Martyn James (2-30) and Liam Shore (2-33).
Hook were then shot out for just 80, as Ash Neal 4-19 and Chris Jolley 3-16 did most of the damage. The top Hook batsman was Richard Willcock with 29.
Delighted winning captain Griffiths said: “For me this was the best performance by a Basingstoke team in the three years I have been at the club.
“We now look forward to the final and I am sure it will be a good game against Hartley.”
The Guy Jewell Cup final takes place on Sunday, August 25 (2.30pm) at May’s Bounty, with the Cyril Thompson Trophy final the curtain raiser with an 11am start time.
