HOOK and Newnham Basics will be looking to take another step towards a trip to Ageas Bowl for the second year running this weekend.
The Hook army are on their travels to face Portsmouth and Southsea in the quarter-finals of the Southern League T20 Plate.
The Division One visiting leaders will start as favourites for the game against side from Division Three, but being a T20 game anything can happen.
Last Sunday, Hook the current Southern League T20 Cup winners hopes of national glory was ended in their opening game of the area finals at Cranleigh, as they lost by eight wickets.
Hook faced host side and Surrey champions Cranleigh and the home side won the toss and put the visitors into bat.
It did not start well for Hook with Harry Robson and Richard Willcock back in the pavilion with only six scored.
Captain Josh Buckingham (37) and brother Matt Buckingham (14) then got the score moving, but with 50 on the board they were parted by George Ealham.
After that Daniel Moore (20) and Jack Murrell (14) were the only other players to make it into double figures, as the Hook made 108-9 from their 20 overs.
Cranleigh made a solid start to their reply as Ajaz Patel (30) and Jack Scriven (56 not out) put on 76 for the first wicket.
Patel was dismissed after being stumped by Josh Buckingham off the bowling of Anik Divecha and Willcock got the other wicket, as Cranleigh got home with five overs to spare.
