READING opened their Championship campaign with a 3-1 loss at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
The visitors led 1-0 at half-time, after Kadeem Harris scored from a tight angle.
The Royals levelled things on 54 minutes when Yakou Meite headed in a Varry Bannon cross.
However, two minutes later Sam Hutchinson restored the lead fo the Owls.
With 10 minutes left, the visitors were reduced to 10 men as goalkeeper Keiren Westwood was sent-off after bringing down Mo Barrow outside the area.
Despite the man disadantage, the visitors added a third goal from Lucas Joao seven minutes into added on time.
Next for Reading is a trip to Hull on Saturday.
