HOOK and Newnham Basics seconds moved back to the top of the Hampshire League County Division One and have promotion to the Southern League Division Three in their sights.
Hook picked up their ninth win in 11 outings on Saturday, when they beat visiting Burridge second string by 42-runs.
The home side decided to bat and a superb 84 from opener Harry Warner, well support by Sam Bruin (21) and he shared a fourth wicket stand worth 94 runs with Alex Brown (35).
In the end, Hook were all out for 219, which proved enough as the visitors were bowled out for 177.
Josh Balcombe (3-31) along with Kevin Light (2-31), Shane Brewer (2-35) and Will Gardner (2-42) did the damage.
This Saturday, they are away at lowly Ryde, the first of only four games remaining.
