READING still searching for their first win of their Championship campaign after they lost 2-1 at Hull City.
Hull's leading goal scorer Jarrod Bowen gave the home side the lead after five minutes as he netted Kamil Grosicki's rebound.
Jackson Irvine added a second 11 minutes later as he headed in Bowen's cross.
Reading's Lucas Joao on his debut pulled a goal back after the hour mark with John Swift picking up an assist.
Another summer signing for the Royals George Puscas impressed when came off the bench and hit the crossbar late on.
Next for Reading is a EFL Cup tie at Wycombe on Tuesday night.
