SUPER sub Craig Rutledge came off the bench to score the winner for Whitchurch United, as they beat visiting Fawley.
The winning goal came five minutes from time, after fellow sub Declan Shuttleworth won a challenge for the ball with the visiting goalkeeper and Rutledge nipped into score.
Earlier in the contest Ryan Long hit the post and Lloyd Thompson also went close as the home side dominated the game
Whitchurch manager Glyn Cherrett said: “It is great to get our first win of the season and I felt we deserved all three points.
On Tuesday night, the Jam Boys game at Romsey was abandoned at half-time with the score being 0-0.
This Saturday, Whitchurch are back in action at Longmeadow, when they take on Verwood in the latest game of their Wessex League Division One campaign.
Then on Tuesday night, the Jam Boys have a Hampshire Senior Cup first round tie at Premier Division Fleet Town.
