BASINGSTOKE Town picked up their first point of their Southern League Division One South campaign as they drew 1-1 at Winchester City against Winchester City.
The Dragons welcomed back Dean Stow and Harrison Cliff into their line-up with a big crowd of 366 were present for this Hampshire derby game.
The home side started the better with a number of chances
City should have taken the lead as Olly Balmer rounded Chris Rackley and with the goal gaping could only hit the bar.
Town took the lead on 29 minutes thanks to summer signing Claudio Herbert.
The Dragons went close again as Wright fired over from Ben Cook's cross.
Winchester then levelled things seven minutes before the interval from Barron.
The home side should have retaken the lead before the break after an Adam Everiss free-kick is pushed away and Wright is denied twice with rebound efforts.
After the interval, both sides had chances with Herbert and sub Mickey Davis going close for Town and
City went close from Barron and Balmer including hitting the bar again.
Into the final minute of the contest, Basingstoke's Cook was denied by City goalkeeper Ryan Pryce.
The result leaves Town 17th in the table and next for Town is a trip to Slimbridge on Saturday, who are two places below them.
