TADLEY Calleva booked their place in the third round of the Wessex League Cup after they beat one of the competition favourites AFC Portchester 4-3 after a penalty shoot-out.
An an even opening 45 minutes the sides went in tied at 0-0. After the interval, the home side’s Connor Thorne hit the post and then with six minutes left, they were reduced to 10 men after Jordan Alves picked up a second yellow card.
Two minutes into added on time Porchester scored.
However, straight from the kick-off, Tadley won a free-kick and Luke Neller sent the ball for Daryll Phillips to head home and the final whistle was blown.
So the game was decided by penalties with Jordan Goater getting the winner in sudden death as he scored and the visitors fired wide.
Last Saturday, Tadley were beaten 2-0 at Shaftesbury.
This weekend they entertain Portland United in the the Premier Division.
WHITCHURCH won at Petersfield 1-0 last Saturday thanks to Aaron Randall.
Tonight, they are in FA Vase action at Fareham.
AFC ALDERMASTON drew 2-2 at Abingdon United in the Hellenic League Division One East.
Bouziane Yusri and Ryan Adams scored their goals and the Atomics are next in action on September 3 at home to Woodley United.
