THE Basingstoke Bison were unable to stop the Sheffield Steeldogs going top of the National League, as they went down 4-2 at Ice Sheffield.
After both sides hit the pipework, the home side took the lead thanks to Jan Danecek at 18:21.
However, two penalties on Sheffield in the space of 15 seconds gave the Bison a two man advantage and man of the Match Adam Jones slotted home from the blue line assisted by George Norcliffe and Ashley Tait.
The Herd took the lead three minutes into the second session thanks to Tom Ralph, with Alex Sampford and Richard Bordowski picking up the helpers.
The Steeldogs replied with two goals in the space of 25 seconds. The first from Ashley Calvert on the powerplay and the other from the home side's man of the match Vladimir Luka at 28:10.
The Bison levelled things just 90 seconds into the final period as Ashley Tait finished a move involving Ryan Sutton and Michael Klejna.
The Herd then thought they had taken the lead, but after much discussion the goal was disallowed.
The home side made the most of the let off as Luka struck again with the winner at 53:08.
This Saturday, the Bison will look to maintain their 100 per cent record at home when the Raiders from Romford are the visitors.
