THE BASINGSTOKE Bison enjoyed their first four point weekend of the season, as they followed up their overtime victory against Milton Keynes with a 5-3 success at Peterborough.
It was the Herd's first success on the road in Cambridgeshire this season, but it was the Phantoms who took the lead at 8:12, thanks to a blue line blast from Petr Stepanek.
The Bison levelled things before the first break, as Alex Sampford netted from man of the match Sam Talbot, who picked up his first ever Basingstoke point.
The visitors then took the lead at 26:30, as Talbot was the provider again for George Norcliffe to score.
The home side hit back 50 seconds later, as man of the match James Ferrara netted from close range.
However, the Herd took the lead again thanks to a great breakaway strike from Bayley Harewood.
The final period saw the Phantoms level things again, as Ferrara netted his second of the night.
As the game entered the final five minutes, the Bison made it 4-3 thanks to a Adam Jones' blue line bullet on the powerplay.
Peterborough came looking for an equaliser and at 57:19, were given a great chance as Basingstoke's Paul Petts took a holding penalty.
The home side pulled their netminder to give themselves six skaters, but it was Ashley Tait who scored, hitting the empty net with a shorthanded strike 67 seconds from time.
This Saturday, the Bison are at home to the Telford Tigers and the game starts at 6.30pm.
