NORTH Warnborough took on Michelmersh and Timsbury Reserves in the Hampshire Saturday Plate Cup.
They scored just the once and conceding nine goals.
Despite the shocking score line, it was Warnborough who were the better side, just suffered their usual trouble of not finishing golden opportunities, where as every attack Michelmersh made lead to the defence conceding a goal.
After two minutes Bailey Craig broke through on goal only to pass the ball to the goalkeeper, just the first of a number of times he repeatedly got through to finish poorly.
Liam Self and Luke Ambrose each threw away at least five chances to score. The locals watching said Warnborough should have been eight up at half time, but a 15 minute spell in the first half handed Michelmersh a 4-0 lead, from corners or weak defence, which set the pattern for the afternoon.
In the second half Warnborough again started well with good simple passing, leading Ryan Nuttall to score from the edge of the box to make it 4-1.
Warnborough realised it was not to be their day as they squandered chance after chance, while leaking more goals.

Kai Mears took a well taken goal. Athletic fought back, building pressure, and equalised 20 minutes in when a corner from Paul Walsh-Taylor was prodded home by Challis, making up for his previous mistake.
Athletic took the lead on 28 minutes after a cross by Sean Baggett was only half cleared by Herriard.
It fell to the edge of the box where Walsh-Taylor volleyed into the top corner to make it 2-1.
Another Walsh-Taylor corner was turned in by Matt Dean. Nine minutes before half-time Herriard scored their second, a header by Reece Liggins from a corner to make it 3-2.
The second half started with Athletic doubling the lead. Dean netting from a perfect cross by James Loughton.
A well taken goal from a midfielder driving into the box.
Herriard's Connor Lovell pulled it back to 4-3 on 53 minutes after mishandling by the Athletic stand-in keeper Josh Munns, who had performed exceptionally up to that point.
Athletic scored twice in quick succession, Josh Boyle from 30 yards curled from the left into the top corner and Keyron Hylton who headed in from a right corner.
Loughton finished the scoring, after a ball from Dean, lobbing the goalkeeper from the edge of the box to complete the 7-3 scoreline.

Corey Webb in the Berg made several saves before Berg replied twice. Stefan Graham on 16 minutes with a half-volley from the edge of the box assisted by Kean Greening, with the same pair conjuring up Graham's second on 43 minutes.
This made it 2-1 at half-time.
