A CHILLY Sunday morning and the first game of 2020 started with a Bernard Cornish Cup quarter-final game for Hartley Sunday against Division Two Camrose Social at Brighton Hill.
The first 10 minutes saw Hartley with the better chances but play came to a halt with a head injury to Burrows.
Hartley maintained the better possession from the restart and were rewarded with a goal from Deakin.
Play evened out and chances came for both sides with both keepers busy fetching missed shots from behind the goals.
Deakin claimed his brace and the first half finished with Hartley Sunday 2-0 up.
The second half saw Camrose out of the blocks quickest and intent on keeping Hartley’s goalkeeper Glanville busy.
For all their intent they could not find the back of the net and neither could Hartley they got back into the game for the last 20 minutes. Callum Hart was Man of the Match.
In the other tie, Kempshott and Hampshire Irons were goalless after normal time.
However, Hampshire Irons came from 1-0 down in extra time, a Ben Clarke strike for Kempshott, to win 3-1.
Goal scorers were Stephen Bown after some brilliant work by Chris Arnold and five minutes from time Gavin Curry was brought down in the box and converted the penalty himself.
In the Hampshire Sunday Vase round four Test Valley Spartans beat Basingstoke Hammers 6-0.
Overton United beat Worthies 2-0 with strikes from Liam Randall and sub Joshua Bromley.
Bramley United won their Division One home match 5-1 against Tadley Tigers, opening the score midway through the first half through Tyrell Reid.
A cross by Reid was headed home by sub Ryan Thorpe, 2-0 half-time.
Tigers reduced the deficit early in the second half, before Reid found Colin Bell to head in 3-1. Bell scored two more to complete his hat-trick.
Brookvale United lost 5-0 to AFC Laarsens, goals from Samie Aldoori, Cian Condon, Henry Groves, and subs Alex Catt and 'Jesse' James Todd.
Callum Greenly scored one and Ben Blackwell and Charlie Hart notched up hat-tricks as New Park Rangers beat Chineham 7-1.
In Division Two Eastrop Eagles picked up all three points as Brighton Wood were unable to raise a side.
Harry Major scored a brace, Sheldon Wright a single as Chineham Cavaliers beat Basingstoke Royals 3-1, Dean Peltohaka getting Royals' consolation.
Basingstoke Saints won 20-0 against Hampshire Royals in Division Three, a generally embarrassing game for the Royals who let themselves down after a reasonable start.
They were 6-0 down in the first half, so not great, but they didn’t show up at all for the second half and have to look at themselves hard if they want to continue recent improvements.
Alex Dance-Prosser scored a late consolation for Chineham Tigers, with a shot deflected off a defender past the goalkeeper, in their 3-1 defeat to AFC Aldermaston.
The game was very even for the first half with both teams having equal amount of possession and chances although it was AFC who managed to get a goal just before the end of the half, a 40-yard screamer from man of the match Tommy James.
The game continued to be even but AFC were the more clinical side scoring another two halfway through the half, the first from a James pass to Daniel Hargreaves to tap in at the far post. Tommy James completed his brace for AFC with a lob over the goalkeeper.
North Warnborough 2020 won 3-2 against AFC Basing, with Harry Armstrong, Michael Auge-de-Rancourt and James Whitehouse netting for Boro, Callum Silcox and Anton Medford for Basing.
Renegades beat FC Shallow End 1-0, sub Bradley Charles netting on 60 minutes.
