Two Oakley Junior Ladies players have been selected to play for the Hampshire Ladies John’s Trophy team of 24 against Kent at Horsham.

Heather Statham and Alice Lovett were selected following successful trials. They will represent the Hampshire team on June 18.

Alice has also been selected to take part in the Bowls England Junior Academy for 18-year-olds and under at Leamington Spa on June 19.

The Bowls England National Men’s Two Rink competition has seen mixed results for local teams. Old Basing lost narrowly 34-32 to Andover but there were successes for Kingsclere 37-33 against Fleet United, for Oakley against Alton Social 38-30 and for Howard Park against Whitchurch.

In the Basingstoke Men’s League, Alton Social continue to make the running, following a 4-0 win over Old Basing, with Oakley A moving into second place after beating Basingstoke Town A. Kingsclere beat Whitchurch but Howard Park went down to defeat against Alton.

The mixed Whitchurch Triples League saw yet another change at the top of Division 1 as Oakley Buzzards temporarily leapfrogged Andover Lions whose game was postponed.

In Division 2 Howard Park Merlins stormed to the top with a 5-0 victory against previous leaders Littleton Lemurs.

Littleton Lions remain top of Division 3 though they now share the spot with Howard Park Kestrels.

In Division 4, Old Basing Royalists also continue in the lead and are now the only team in all 4 divisions to have won all games.

The Stan Hardman Thursday afternoon Mixed Triples League is also now under way and in Area 1, Basingstoke Town have made a strong start leading by 5 points from Oakley B whilst in Area 4 St Mary Bourne lead from Oakley A.
