Ben Pattison ended his very successful season by winning the BMC Loughborough Grand Prix final.
Deciding to run the 1500m to finish off his very busy year Ben was up against athletes from Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden as well as home country opposition.
In his 21st race of the year, Ben won in a time of 3:39.13 – yet another PB this season, beating his previous best by five seconds and finishing ahead of Sweden’s Samuel Pihlistrom with James Young from Morpeth in third.
Although all his success has come his year, running the 800m Saturdays performance illustrated that he is very strong when running the metric mile as his equivalent time was well under four minutes.
Also in action at Loughborough was Guy Stevens another young Basingstoke and Mid Hants Athletic Club club runner who has had a great season.
Running in the C 1500m race he finished fifth in 3:51.67, taking 1.5 seconds off his PB and coming home as the leading U20 runner.
In the 800m D race, it was Stefan O’loughnane’s turn to produce the goods winning his heat in a time of 1:52.02 and shaving 0.4 seconds off his PB.
In the women’s 1500m, Maddie Deadman came 11th in a time of 4:26.65 with the race being won by Natoya Goule of Jamaica.
