Teenage cricketer, Oli Webster, delivered an impressive performance leading Hook & Newnham Basics II to a victory over Southern Premier Division 3 opponents, Fareham & Crofton on Bath Lane.
The match saw Hook initially struggle at 33-3.
Upon Webster's appearance on the field, he scored a sturdy 68 runs, deciding the match's favour towards Hook.
Among his contributions were a significant six, seven fours, and a notable fifth-wicket stand of 71 with Tom Dyer (40). Hook's final score was 196, which Fareham, despite efforts from Morgan Frost (27) and Jez Bulled, could not surpass.
Especially detrimental to Fareham's result was a collapse from 62-3 to 88 all out, where seven wickets were lost for 26 runs.
In this critical phase, Charlie Bland achieved 3-19 and Jon Clark and Webster managed two wickets each.
