OAKLEY and Basingstoke Town players are set to star at the Aviva National Bowls Championships.
Alice Lovett from Oakley secured her place at Leamington first after defeating Grace Reed from Milton Park 21-12, thereby winning the County Junior Singles title for the second time.
Both players will also represent in the Junior Pairs match.
Lovett subsequently confirmed another visit to Leamington, winning 21-6 against Mandy Wilde of Gosport in the County Singles semi-final.
She now progresses to the County Final, where, if victorious, she could achieve the rare feat of becoming both the outdoor and indoor champion in the same year.
Ric Newson and Graham Tompkins of Oakley were unsuccessful at the Senior Pairs final round, suffering a narrow one-shot defeat, despite initially leading.
Basingstoke Town's Anita Christian and Rachel Powell also remain a game from the finals in Leamington.
Christian, following a 21-14 triumph in the Champion of Champions match over Jill Taylor of Pembroke Gardens, is set to play against Laura Kitcher of Kings Park.
Powell, however, faces a challenging Senior Singles match against Janet Ballard of Waterside.
Oakley's men's team is experiencing its most successful run in the National Top Club.
Despite challenges, Oakley is set to take on Surrey's champions, Egham, in the next round.
In the North Hants Women's team competition, Basingstoke Town Ladies advanced to the semi-finals following a win against Yateley, joining Oakley, the 2023 champions, who defeated Hook.
In the Basingstoke and District Men's League matches Division 1, Kingsclere replaced Alton Social as the leading team following a 4-0 victory over Alton.
In Division 2, Basingstoke Town "B" continues to hold the lead over Hook.
Unfortunately, the Mixed Triples League matches were postponed or abandoned due to poor weather.
In the Whitchurch Mixed Triples League Division 1, despite suffering a second consecutive 5-0 defeat against Kingsclere Partridges, Basingstoke Spades stay on top with a five-point lead.
In Division 2, Alton Social tops the chart.
In Division 3 and 4, Kingsclere Pheasants and Marnell Jades respectively hold commanding leads.
