KINGSCLERE Cricket Club will mark 250 years with a special event and a match featuring an ex-England player. 

The jubilee event, on Sunday, August 25, at Park House Stables, will not only raise funds for the local club but also for the Lords Taverners charity, the air ambulance, and St Michael's Hospice.

Gates open at 11.30am and the match scheduled at 12.30pm will feature ex-England cricketer Matthew Hoggard, a representative from the Southern Vipers, and Kingsclere Club members playing against the Park House Pirates Invitation XI, led by Andrew Balding.

Additional attractions include a parade of Kingsclere trained race horses and the opportunity to view horses practising on the gallops.

Event-goers can enjoy a selection of food stands including the Hoggy’s Grill, The Pie Hole and an ice cream parlour.

The Honesty Bakery will also be present. Locally brewed beer, cider, wine, and other soft drinks will be available for purchase.

To conclude the day's celebration, the South Coast's famous cover band Big Red will perform live.

The event's organiser expressed optimism about the weather, saying: "We just need the weather gods to look favourably on us."
