HARTLEY Wintney concluded their pre-season fixtures with a 1-1 draw against fellow local club Tadley Calleva.

The Row started the stronger and went ahead on two minutes. A surging run from defence by Aaron Burchett ended with a pass to the left and the subsequent cross from George Wallace found George Britton whose rasping shot from the right edge of the penalty area found the top corner of the net. (1-0).

The Row dominated most of the play but found it difficult to break down a well organised Calleva defence. On 34 minutes Aderi Dede dribbled past two Tadley defenders before seeing his shot bring out a good save from Craig Atkinson in the Tadley goal.

Action from Hartley Wintney v Tadley Calleva (Image: Josie Shipman) The second period saw much the same pattern. However, Tadley did pose a threat from accurate set pieces and long throws. A flurry of substitutions saw both sides use their entire benches and the game lost some momentum.

In the final minute Tadley pulled level when a cross from the right was headed home by Kieran Rodgers. (1-1).

Next Saturday both clubs are in FA Cup action. Hartley play Downton from the Wessex League Premier Division. The Wiltshire club gained promotion last season losing just four times in 40 matches played and scoring well over 100 goals. This week they held Poole Town to a 2-2 draw in a pre season friendly and should provide and interesting cup tie.

Tadley Calleva entertain Millbrook at Barlows Park and both kicks are 3pm.
