THREE Basingstoke skaters Christie Hughes, Danielle Harrison and Amber Howard all struck gold at the recent Gillingham Open in Kent.

Hughes won at level three, Harrison at level six and Amber Howard completed a hat-trick of successes at level seven.

Nine-year-old Harrison is a member of the NISA Regional Development Pathway Team and recently passed her level seven test.

At the RIDL National Finals, Basingstoke ice dancers, Sue Ellen Giles and Curtis Hawthorne, skating for the Central Region, won team gold at Intermediate level.

The Central Region’s Junior team included Julia Melhuish and Curtis Hawthorne along with Jane Rogerson and Martyn Leaver and secured a bronze medal.

A number of Basingstoke skaters will be in action in couple of ice shows next month.

Following on from the sell-out success of Dancing Queen, Chiller - a musical journey through the life of Michael Jackson takes place at the Basingstoke Arena on December 10 and 11.

This will feature Winter Olympic- bound British Champion Jenna McCorkell, along with her husband Kevin van der Perren, a European bronze medallist in 2009.

They head a cast of stars from Russia and America and some of Basingstoke’s own stars-in-the-making to perform a dazzling tribute to a music legend.

Then, on the weekend of December 19 and 20, nearly 250 Basingstoke skaters will appear in the Christmas Show on Ice.

The annual event is directed by ice skating coach Anita Curtis.

Tickets for both shows are on sale from the box office on 01256 355266 or for more details or visit the website at planet-ice.co.uk
