EACH of the three LoddonSherpas pairs won two rubers each to give them a 6-3 victory over Phoenix in the Basingstoke and District Badminton League’s Ladies Division of Six.
The winning trio of pairs were Michelle Tomlinson/Heather Skilton, Heather Farquhar/Eve Bielby and Jenny Skilton/Sandra Jennings, while Alison Rendall and Carolyn Neale won two of the losers’ rubbers with Averil Mason/Colette Davies supplying the third.
Phoenix, represented by Rendall/Neale, Sheila Weston/Melissa Dunn and Davies/Rebecca Cooch, then beat a two-pair Andover Sports 5-4.
BH Pegasus ladies continued their run with a 6-3 home win against Beechdown courtesy of a maximum from Lesley Acheson/Hayley Burger, supported by two from Anu Davies/Alex Hodgetts and one from Amanda Marsden/Christie Yao.
Andrea Jefferies and Ruth Seward won two of the losers’ matches, with Lisa Moran/Moya Abbott getting the third.
In the Ladies Division of Four, Waverley and BH Pegasus played out a 3-3 draw. For Waverley, Jan McDonald and Gill Trimmer took part in two successful rubbers, while Sarah Fenton and Heather Mountford each participated in one.
Alex Hodgetts and Haylie Fox took part in two winning rubbers for BH Pegasus, with Doreen Quilter and Theresa Simmonds taking part in one each.
Anu Davies, Haylie Fox, Alex Hodgetts and Doreen Quilter made up the BH Pegasus team which later beat Beechdown 6-0 at Winchester Road.
Jane Vickers and Gill Trimmer took part in one winning rubber each when Waverley lost 4-2 to Viking, while Heather Mountford was involved in two.
For Viking, Emma James was part of three winning partnerships, Jo Berry and Diane Cooper took part in two each and Ruth Cairns in one to complete the victory.
In an earlier report it was incorrectly stated that Beechdown had beaten Waverley 6-0. The reverse was in fact the case. My apologies to the four Waverley ladies concerned – Heather Mountford, Liz Firth, Lynne White and Sarah Fenton.
Mark Payne and Stephen Lambe were the only winners for Hurst when they lost 8-1 at home to BH Pegasus A in Men’s Division One.
Alex Wigmore/Steve Harrison and Chris Pearson/Pranash Kumaran recorded maximums for the visitors, with Nick Reid/Martin Hill winning the remaining two rubbers.
Carlo/Milo Rapacioli, Graeme Berry/Scott Wilkins and Chris Powell/Simon Williamson were the Viking A side which defeated Pegasus C 9-0.
In Division Two, Waverley A were involved in two matches. In the first they lost 6-3 at home to Beechdown A with Adam Bridgen/Simon Corbett taking two rubbers for them, supplemented by one from John Beattie/Steve Ineson.
Peter Deeds/Peter Seward won their three rubbers for the visitors, complemented by two from Mark Bayliss/James Bartlett and one from Bruce Scott/Tim Jefferies.
A few days later, Waverley A recovered to beat LoddonSherpas B 7-2. Bridgen/Corbett led the way by winning all three of their rubbers, supplemented by two each from Peter Bevell/Steve Ineson and Colin Huntley/Mark Howell.
Mitchell Hockley and Ricky Sewhee won the losers’ two rubbers.
Tony Ashworth/Phil Hood and Mark Gentry/Hanif Rahman both recorded maximums, supplemented by one rubber from Michael Nash/Carl Blaine, when LoddonSherpas A beat Phoenix C 7-2.
Alex Groom/Andrew Bosworth and Mark Chapple/Steve Glover won a rubber each for the BH Pegasus side.
Steve Webb/John Weston won a maximum when Firefly beat Andover 5-4 at the Hurst.
Colin Pink/Mick Turrell and Scott Armstead/Chris Nunne won one rubber each to achieve the five.
Tim Lewis/Chris Woodside and Steve Trussell/Ivor Brojek won two rubbers each for Andover.
In Division Three, Phoenix B defeated a visiting two-pair Alresford 8-1, as Mark Fuller/Savastand and Paul Nightingale/Mark Hill won the two rubbers they played for the winners, with Mark Taylor/David Harfield getting the other one.
Geriant Griffiths/Peter Cowmeadow, Ben Sellers/Justin Pike and Peter Sellers/Peter Hartfield made up the Andover Sports B team which defeated visiting Waverley B 9-0.
