JIDE Ogunbote’s brave header earned Basingstoke Town the near a 1-0 win away at Staines on Saturday.
The midfielder put his head in where it hurt to nod Mitchell Bryant’s cross past home ’keeper Louis Wells in the 64th minute – and had to be substituted after hurting himself in the process.
Both sides looked to play football throughout the game but it was Town who created the better chances, Bryant, who has returned to the club on loan from Reading, and Fraser Franks going close in the first half.
Staines saw Marien Ifra’s header glance the crossbar, while Ross Kitteridge did well to save from Elliott Onochie in the sixth of eight added minutes at the end of the game.
