In addition to my recent book Basingstoke History Delving Deeper I am now compiling a book of personal living memories of Basingstoke past.

I am inviting anyone to contribute their memories of living in Basingstoke before 1980 as far back as they can remember, childhood, school life, family life, working life and anything in between that is connected to Basingstoke, especially if there are memories of the demolition and rebuild of the town centre.

The contribution does not have to be polished or grammatically correct as it will be edited, and approved by the sender, but I would welcome any personal memories that Gazette readers have.

I have had a good response so far from other sources and I would be very grateful for a mention in the Gazette so that it is open for readers.

Anyone who is interested in contributing please email basingstokehistory@gmail.com in the first instance.
